Mike Koldyke founded Frontenac in 1971 and led the firm until his retirement in 1993. He is recognized for his civic and philanthropic endeavors, most of which are related to his long-standing commitment to education. He is the founder and chairman emeritus of both the Golden Apple Foundation and the Academy for Urban School Leadership and serves on the Boards of the Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico, After School Matters, the National Council on Teacher Quality and the New Mexico Highlands University Foundation. He is a Life Trustee of Northwestern University and the Ravinia Festival Association.
